Parent Letter Feb, 10 2010

Dear Parents,
Last week we celebrated a wonderful week during Catholic Schools Week. The faculty, staff and I wish to thank you for honoring us with all the special treats during the week and especially for sharing your wonderful children with us. They are a most precious gift to you and your families, to us, and to each other. Jesus said that the kingdom of God belongs to all those who accept it with the innocence of children. We offer this poem as our thank you gift to you.

Children Are…by M. Stewart
“Amazing…acknowledge them.
Believable…trust them.
Capable…allow them.
Delightful…honor them.
Energetic…nourish them.
Fallible…embrace them.
Gifts from God…treasure them.
Here now…be with them.
Innocent…delight in them.
Joy-filled…appreciate them.
Kind-hearted…learn from them.
Loving…cherish them.
Magical…soar with them.
Noble…esteem them.
Open-minded…respect them.
Precious…value them.
Questioners…encourage them.
Resourceful…support them.
Spontaneous…enjoy them.
Talented…believe in them.
Unique…affirm them.
Vulnerable…protect them.
Wonder-filled…pray with them.
Extraspecial…celebrate them.
Yearning…notice them.
Zany…laugh with them.”

I remind you that next week is vacation week. During the week the season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday. We hope that you will be able spend some time in prayer with your children on this day. Lenten sacrifices include abstaining from meat for those 14 years of age and above on Ash Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent. Those over 21 year of age are ask also to fast between meals on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

Our 8th graders have sent home order forms for the Gertrude Hawk Easter candy sale. The funds raised will be used to help defray the cost of their New York City trip that takes place in May. They are grateful for any support you can give to this endeavor.

Once again I thank you for a wonderful Catholic Schools Week celebration and all that you do every day to support the mission of our St. Joseph School. You continue to be in our prayers. Please keep us in yours.

Sincerely,
Marianne Cote
Principal
