Parent Letter Mar, 3, 2010
Dear Parents,
As we continue our Lenten journey, we are reminded that God has called us by name in the Sacrament of Baptism. He has called us not because of anything we have done, but simply because He loves us without question. This doesn’t mean however that we can sit back with no response. We are called to respond with our entire being—hearts, minds, and souls. During the Lenten season we are asked to respond to our Baptismal call through additional prayer, sacrifice, and the gift of ourselves to others. May we make this Lenten journey one of true response to God’s love for us.
Next week our students will be treated to a visit by author Darren Sardelli. Mr. Sardelli is a poet and will conduct writing workshops in grades 2 through 8 on Thursday and Friday of next week.
On Friday, March 12th, report cards will be distributed to all students. I ask that you please remember your financial commitment to our school, as the final payment for this year is due.
We are now in the process of re-registration for the 2010-2011 school year. Forms were sent home last week. If you have not received yours, please notify the office. Registration for new students is in process. I remind you that if you have kindergarten or first grade students who are siblings, you must still complete the registration process. Also, if you are aware of families wishing to register for any of the grades please encourage them to call the school office to make an appointment. Remember you and your children are our greatest advertisement.
Our Science Fair presented by grades 5 through 8 takes place tomorrow night from 6-7:30 p.m. All are invited to come and view the wonderful work that our students are doing in the areas of Earth, Life and Physical Sciences.
Tomorrow, Thursday afternoon, at 1:30 p.m., our second graders will celebrate the Listening and Caring segment of the First Communion preparation at our St. Joseph Church. Please continue to pray for them and their families as they prepare.
On the 13th of March we will celebrate our annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner, The Shamrock Tea. Please look for further notices regarding this event. A corned beef and cabbage dinner will be served (hot dogs and chips for those children who wish the option). Tickets will be available at the door. Remember, on St. Paddy’s Day, everyone is Irish!
Many of you have seen the newspaper article regarding St. Joseph School in Norwich. We have received some calls inquiring as to whether the article was about us. Please spread the word that St. Joseph School, New London is alive and well and in no danger of being in this situation. Please spread the word!
During this Lenten time of prayer, please keep all those in our school community in your prayers in a very special way, especially those who are ill or in need in anyway.
Sincerely,
Marianne Cote
Principal
